Biography
Hanis Zainuddin is a practising artist who graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore, with a Diploma in Fine Art. Hanis has participated in various activities which include doing mural paintings, canvas competition at Yellowren Arts Festival and a group show at The Connoisseur Concerto (TCC), a NAFA x TCC collaboration, Savour The Arts II. Hanis is also a certified freelance art trainer under Cignature Enrichment Group, C'ignature Arts, who have conducted various enrichment classes (visual arts) in Primary and Secondary schools.
Artist Statement
My pieces are mostly the mundane objects of daily use such as balloon and wax, along with the perky subversion of common spaces. The potential of these materials was seen, therefore inspired me to look into the different possibilities of every craftsmanship. Though my ideas are in constant flux, the endless peculiarity to how the “self” is being defined has directed me to put a focus on the journey of self-discovery. In hopes to provoke curiosity from the quirkiness of my creations, capturing each individual’s imagination and perception from its visual aesthetics is important. Transferring personal sentiments through various canvases have thus become consequential in meaning-making; the use of human senses are then being challenged when chanced upon viewing my artworks.
